From head to hoof,
we've got them covered.
At your barn or at our brand-new haul-in facility — ten ways the Millbrook Equine team keeps your horse healthy, sound, and performing.

24 hr Emergency Coverage
One of our veterinarians is on call at all times.
If you have an emergency, we have you covered. One of our veterinarians can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You may reach our answering service outside of normal business hours.
Messages left on the office answering machine after hours are received the following business day — so for anything urgent, always call.
Looking for a convenient way to ask a question or get a consult without a veterinarian visit? Millbrook Equine also offers telemedicine.

The veterinary team at Millbrook Equine will travel to your horse. Our veterinarians have extensive knowledge of general medicine and work as a team to deliver the best possible care across a range of equine systems, including:
- Musculo-skeletal
- Reproductive
- Ophthalmologic (eye)
- Respiratory
- Alimentary
- Cardiovascular
- Endocrine
- Urinary
- Neurologic
The team is also always available to provide expert guidance on equine nutrition and general care — in person, through educational events, and by telemedicine.

Sports Medicine
Maximize athletic potential and long-term wellness.
Our veterinary team partners with the owners and trainers of horses at all levels of athletics — from pleasure riders to serious performers. We address both clinical lameness and subtle issues that may not be readily apparent, yet still affect your horse's performance.
We use state-of-the-art diagnostic tools to identify the source of lameness, then treat it with ultrasound-guided injection techniques and real-time digital radiographs to administer treatments directly into injured tissues. The suite of treatments may include:
- Traditional anti-inflammatories
- Chondroprotectants
- Stem Cell Therapy
- Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy
- IRAP® Therapy
- Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Cutting Edge Diagnostics & Therapies
Tried-and-true collaborative care meets the latest in veterinary technique.
Digital radiography & ultrasound. Multiple on-farm digital radiography units capture high-quality x-rays we can review immediately, and several ultrasound units support everything from reproductive work and lameness work-ups to chest, abdomen, and late-term pregnancy evaluations.
Regenerative therapies. Pro-Stride APS — processed in about 20 minutes on the farm from your horse's own blood — has been clinically demonstrated to provide pain relief as far out as 52 weeks after a single injection, with no drug-withholding times at the FEI and USEF levels. We also offer PRP therapy and stem cell therapy in partnership with Cornell's laboratory.
Objective lameness measurement. The Equinosis® Q with Lameness Locator® measures lameness objectively with non-invasive inertial sensors — especially useful for subtle performance problems and multiple-limb lameness.
Endoscopy & gastroscopy. 1-meter and 3-meter endoscopes for visualizing the upper airway, mouth, esophagus, and stomach.
Extracorporeal shock wave therapy. Focused high-energy sound waves for suspensory ligament desmitis, chronic back soreness, and certain bony and soft-tissue injuries.

Pre-Purchase Exams
Thorough, in-depth evaluations of horses considered for purchase.
Get all the important information about any horse you are considering. Each exam is tailored to the buyer's needs and the intended use of the horse, and usually includes:
- Comprehensive physical exam
- Lameness exam
- Blood work
- Drug screening
- Digital radiography
- Ultrasonography
- Endoscopy
Our veterinarians always work for the buyer, but their job is not to pass or fail an animal — they provide objective information about existing medical problems to help inform your decision.

Chiropractic & Acupuncture
An effective additional way to improve the health of your horse.
Veterinary chiropractic and acupuncture treatments don't replace traditional veterinary medicine — they complement it.
Chiropractic can often eliminate the source of acute or chronic pain without drugs or surgery. We recommend it for spinal problems, biomechanical musculoskeletal disorders, and as a supplementary treatment for many other health and performance problems.
IVAS-certified acupuncture has proven successful with performance horses — particularly those with neck and back problems — and is an effective way to treat some arthritic conditions and allergies. Treatments are performed at the Millbrook Equine facility for improved safety and enhanced results.

Colostrum Bank
Millbrook Equine and Rhinebeck Equine, working together for local breeding farms.
Colostrum plays a critical role in healthy foal development — and colostrum is available at either location for any foal in need. For pickup, contact Millbrook Equine; after-hours pickup is at Rhinebeck Equine, (845) 876‑7085, 26 Losee Ln, Rhinebeck, NY.
We need your help. When you donate to the bank, your colostrum is tested for quality and the amount you donate is always available back to you, free of charge. If you need more than you've donated, colostrum is available at $50/pint — refundable when you donate back. Net proceeds are donated to Akindale Thoroughbred Rescue.
Storage kits are available at Millbrook or Rhinebeck Equine, and frozen colostrum can be dropped off at either location. Questions? Ask Dr. Alana King at Millbrook Equine, (845) 677‑5500.

Dentistry
A great equine health routine starts with regular dental care.
Regular dental attention helps horses optimize the nutrition they get from their diet and facilitates early diagnosis of problems such as malocclusions, tooth fractures, and infections.
Eliminating sharp enamel points and dental malocclusions can also help with performance — making athletes more comfortable with the bridle.
Ready when you are.
